Bauder Membranes

Bituminous systems

Bauder’s long-established and fully integrated roof systems incorporate SBS modified elastomeric bitumen membranes and highly efficient PIR insulation and holds fire classification BROOF(t4) for compliance with building regulations under TS 1187 test method 4 for external fire exposure to roofs and feature torch-free and torch-safe installation techniques for detailing on, or adjacent to combustible materials.

Bituminous membrane roofing systems are durable and long lasting. They are suitable for commercial and refurbishment building projects. Bauder has seven systems within the bituminous membrane portfolio – Bauder Total Roof System PLUS, Bauder Total Roof System, Bauderflex, Airtech, Pro F, THERM ‘Stripes’ and Torch-free detailing. All are suitable for roofs of various shapes and sizes including green roof projects. Contact Bauder’s team of specialists, they will be able to tell you which is advisable.

Why bituminous systems?

A key advantage of bituminous roofing membrane systems is the exceptionally long lifespan. They require little upkeep over the years, although annual maintenance is recommended to extend its lifespan. These systems can sustain heavy foot traffic as well as loads associated with installation and maintenance and permanently sited rooftop plant.

Which system is right for my project?

Bauder Total Roof System PLUS is Bauder’s premium waterproofing system, utilising the latest manufacturing technology for a dual formulation capping sheet. It is suitable for use in both refurbishment and new build projects particularly when long life-span and high durability are required.

Bauder Total Roof System is suitable for a variety of applications on both new build and refurbishment projects and can be used in warm, cold and inverted roof scenarios. There is also the option of using a root resistant cap sheet, making this waterproofing system ideal for green roof situations.

Bauderflex is resistant to European climatic conditions, and resists impact and tearing. It satisfies requirements of Part B of Building Regulations and can be used in warm and cold roof designs and to overlay existing roofing materials.

Airtech is a 4.2mm thick elastomeric bitumen membrane that withstands loads of up to 2000Kg/m2. The system can be used as a full system build-up or for detailing purposes only where Torch-Free application is a requirement. The reinforcement used in the capping sheet is made from recycled polyester.

Single Ply Membranes

Bauder’s single ply roofing systems are ideal for lightweight, fast track and cost effective construction projects. The systems provide solutions that are durable, resistant to the natural elements and are able to support extensive green roofs and BauderSOLAR photovoltaic arrays.  All Bauder’s single ply systems hold fire classification BROOF(t4) for compliance with building regulations under TS 1187 test method 4 for external fire exposure to roofs.

Single ply roofing systems are one of the most popular of flat roofing materials, particularly advantageous if the project has weight and load bearing considerations. The membrane is durable and resistant to European climate conditions, tears and punctures, yet incredibly lightweight, typically 2-3kg per square metre. The speed of installation makes it a cost-effective method.

There are two systems within Bauder’s single ply portfolio – Thermofol PVC and Thermoplan T FPO. Both are suitable for roofs of all shapes and sizes, come in a range of colours and are appropriate for extensive green roof landscaping. Within these two categories sit numerous options for a project. Your Bauder area technical manager will be able to tell you which is advisable for the needs of your project.

Why single ply?

Single ply is quick to install and cost effective. It’s durable and flexible and Bauder is committed to reducing the impact single ply options have on both society and the environment. All their single ply offerings come with a valuable guarantee. Bauder works hard to ensure all their products meet the latest criteria for various accreditations.

Which system is right for my project?

Thermofol PVC has a membrane with high tensile strength of 1100N/50mm, containing polymers to ensure flexibility at -30°C. Its formulation is resistant to chemicals and micro-organism attacks. Bauder employ a flame-free installation using hot air welding.

Thermoplan FPO membrane has a high tensile strength of 1200N/50mm and contains high-quality polymers to ensure it stays flexible at -45°C. The membrane has no inherent memory and will not shrink.
